The Spring Clean Team

Street Cleaning in Hirwaun with Rhondda Cynon Taff CouncilRhondda Cynon Taff’s Streetcare team are back in the area this week giving streets a ’spring clean’.

The street blitzes were launched three years ago, are part of the campaign to make Rhondda Cynon Taf a cleaner and tidier place to live in, work in and visit.

Due to their efforts, an independent inspection report congratulated the Council on the cleanliness of its streets thanks to the dedication and effort of the authority’s Streetcare Services Department. Over a total of six days Keep Wales Tidy monitored the cleanliness of 248 streets in Rhondda Cynon Taf as part of the Local Environment Audit and Management System (LEAMS) run by Keep Wales Tidy.

Over all 95 % of streets in Rhondda Cynon Taf are at the minimum standard of being satisfactory or above, this is despite the fact that on-road parking can prove difficult when sweeping the streets. But the continued sweeping and litter picking has led to further improvements with a higher proportion of streets being of a satisfactory or above than ever before.
