Aberdare Swimming to Open for Half Term Holidays

Aberdare Swimming Pool is set to re-open after a major renovation scheme for the benefit of residents throughout the county borough.
The opening date for the renovated and improved facility has been confirmed as October 27th, meaning the new-look venue will be open for the half-term holidays.
The Pool will be official reopened at 10.30am by Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism Cllr Graham Thomas and free swimming is available from 10.45am onwards.
Guest of Honour at the event will be David Roberts, the gold-winning paralympic swimmer from Pontypridd who will unveil a new plaque commemorating the opening. The 27-year-old, who suffers from cerebral palsy came home from the 2004 Paralympic Games at Athens with four gold medals.
Local primary and junior schools in Aberdare have been asked to nominate a child from each school to join David as the first swimmers to enter the “new look” 33-metre pool.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is sure residents will see the new centre which has had a programme of major redecoration, a refurbished gymnasium, changing rooms with family changing areas, new pool tiling and eco-friendly measures, is worth the wait.
