Big Green Weekend a Big Hit
April 13, 2008
A Weekend of Green Crafts Events at Fedw Hir Eco Centre, Llwydcoed proved a big hit with the whole family.
A range of craft activitives and displays were on show to suit all ages and interests from stick making, pottery making, wood carving, hedge laying, dry stone walling, willow weaving, and wooden toy making.
And if you didn’t fancy any of that, you could have your face painted for free!
Expert help was at hand and many opportunities to try out new crafts. Lisa Krigel of Gurnos Ceramics, the well-established Social Enterprise, was at hand, literally, to help the youngsters ‘throw a pot’ at the pottery wheel.
Dai Edwards, a Pontypridd-based environmental sculptor, gave the young sculptors of tommorrow a taste of some wood carving and lots of encouragement.
The Big Weekend was organised by Groundwork Merthyr and Rhondda Cynon Taff, a charitable trust that aims to encourage community regeneration through environmental work.
The next Big Weekendz will be held on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May 2008. From 10am until 4pm each day. Everything is Free.
